The White Hart Inn
Dated back
and opened in 1516, The White Hart Inn is now the most haunted and one of the oldest
pub in Edinburgh. In 1660, Inn was located just a couple of steps from a place
that later became the most famous execution place in Edinburgh. Because of
that, people who could afford start rented out rooms upstairs to take part in
executions and have a better view.
The White
Hart Inn was visited by many people, more and less famous. One of them was
Scottish Bard Robert Burns, who wrote his poems there in 1791. Some of his
poems can still be seen painted upon wooden rafters.
Also, famous
pair of serial killers, William Burke and William Hare, spent there year in
1828 luring their victims into White Hart Inn.
In 2005 this
place was called by most haunted place in Edinburgh. The name was never changed
over the last five centuries.
